The Many Meanings and Mysteries of Perception
Rachel Fitzgerald, PhD (INFP), LMFT, Organization Consultant, Designer of CAPT’s first Spirituality Program

To deepen our understanding of both Sensation and Intuition, Rachel will highlight Jung’s original intent for the perceiving functions, amplified by the ideas of authors before and after Jung. Inspired by an exchange between the audience and John Beebe at his last Sacramento presentation, Rachel will also use artists’ images of feminine and masculine archetypes to take our appreciation of typology, and the mysteries of the psyche, to a new level.

JANUARY 24 (All day)

Typology and the American Political Culture
John Beebe, MD (ENTP), Jungian Analyst, Author and International Speaker on Jung, Type Theory and Films

Four days after the new U.S. president is inaugurated, Dr. Beebe will use the 8-function, 8-archetype model to explore the pattern of type development he finds evident in our country today. He will also use the type model to make sense of attitudes expressed in the current electoral process and to identify opportunities for greater consciousness for us all as the new year begins. This is Dr. Beebe’s first public application of his model to U.S. politics and our national process of individuation.

Losing Your Grip: How Can the MBTI® Instrument Help Us When We Get Stressed Out and Lose Our Grip?

Patrick Kerwin, MBA, NCA, MCC (ENFJ), APT Faculty Member, Qualifying Trainer and Career Consultant

The MBTI® instrument has proven invaluable in helping individuals understand their “normal” ways of being and how their natural preferences affect areas such as communication, work interactions, and personal relationships. However, in a world that has recently seen a string of natural disasters, spiraling energy and food costs, depressed housing markets, job losses, and a plethora of other potentially stress-inducing events, how can this system help us? Learn common stress triggers for each of the eight Jungian functions, characteristics of each type when “in the grip” of the inferior function, strategies for returning to equilibrium, and much more.

APRIL 25 (All day)

Now that You Know the Basics of Type, What Can You Add and How Can You Apply It?

Linda Berens, PhD (INTP), Founder/CEO of Interstrength Associates (formerly Temperament Research Institute), Author, and long-time Qualifying Trainer

Linda brings us a combination of “back to basics” and “practical applications” to work, relationships, and personal/professional development. In this all-day finale to the 2008-09 program year, you will:

  • Learn the essential qualities of Cognitive Dynamics (aka the eight-function model), Temperament, and Interaction Styles
  • Learn what kind of solutions and applications each model is best suited for
  • Find out how each can contribute to more sustainable applications (especially for counselors, consultants, coaches, trainers, and leaders in any organization)
  • Gain a sense of how each of the lenses can add dimensions and insights to an individual’s whole personality, focusing on the essence of the type, thus helping to clarify, and revise when necessary, a person’s previous assessment of their type
  • Learn more about yourself and your individual development
